Li Li, owner of Li Li's is the guardian of the Imperial Court Cuisine outside China; just as her great grandfather, as Minister of Household Affairs, had kept a watchful eye on the chiefs of the royal kitchens under Dowager Empress Ci Xi, grandmother of Pu Yi, the Last Emperor of China. (The Emperor's brother, Pu Jie, is now the patron of the royal cuisine).

Herself of royal Manchurian blood, Li Li's repertoire of 300 court dishes true to recipes handed down by her great grandfather, is considered unrivalled.
Li Li arrived in Melbourne in early 1991.
She is here to share the secrets of the Forbidden City, and a tradition she revived at her own restaurant in Beijing.
Li Li's is synonymous with banquets.
She says that is the way the Imperial Court Cuisine is meant to be presented - always has been and always will be.

Li Li's is open for dinner only, Monday to Sunday, and is fully licensed.
